AAST Helps Sponsor IACP ConferenceAAST was proud to help sponsor the 40th Annual IACP State and Provincial Police Planning Officers Section Conference in San Antonio, Texas, July 24-27, hosted by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Numerous training topics were provided to the attendees, including occupant safety laws, criminal profiling, fitness for law enforcement, Avian bird flu-Pandemic influenza, criminal interdiction strategies, US-Mexico border violence, disaster response and recovery - Hurricane Rita lessons learned, fraudulent document recognition, US-Mexico border commercial motor vehicle inspection facilities, off-duty police shootings. "Helping sponsor national events is a priority for AAST," President Tommy Moore said. "It offers the association the opportunity to support state troopers on a large scale and to be involved with other organizations that share our goals of assisting troopers." The conference was attended by representatives from numerous state and provincial police agencies, including the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Colorado State Patrol, Connecticut Department of Public Safety, Delaware State Police, Florida Highway Patrol, Georgia State Patrol, Iowa Department of Public Safety, Kansas Highway Patrol, Louisiana State Police, Maryland State Police, Minnesota State Patrol, Mississippi Department of Public Safety, New York State Police, North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Oklahoma Department of Public Safety, Ontario Provincial Police, Rhode Island State Police, South Carolina Highway Patrol, Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Texas Department of Public Safety. Several AAST members were in attendance, and AAST membership information was provided to attendees. AAST sponsored a break for the conference and also purchased three Surefire tactical flashlights that were given as door-prizes. |
