PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Greetings:

It is a pleasure and honor to welcome you to the American Association of State Troopers website.

Whether you are a member of AAST, a member of the community seeking information about donating, or a member of the media, we are pleased to provide you with pertinent and up-to-date information regarding our organization.

Since its inception in 1989, AAST has maintained the goal of improving the lives of our member state troopers by offering numerous benefits and services. For your information, AAST is a national, non-profit organization composed of active and retired state troopers, highway patrol officers, and state police officers across the nation.

The Association is managed solely by its members, consisting of state troopers who volunteer their time to serve on our Board of Directors. AAST is the only national organization to offer membership exclusively to individual active and retired state troopers, highway patrol officers, and state police officers. We take pride in offering real assistance to the men and women who patrol our highways day-in and day-out, protecting America and its people, and to our retired members, who have already completed their law enforcement careers.

One of our most highly touted benefits is the Scholarship Foundation, which has provided over $2 million in scholarships to our members’ children. We are also extremely proud of troopers’ involvement in the community through fundraisers, holiday events to help the less fortunate, and educational events. AAST proudly partners with various organizations in these endeavors. We are also involved with organizations who share our vision, including Concerns of Police Survivors, the Uniformed Safety Education Officers Workshop, and the National Police Shooting Championships.

The membership benefit I have heard troopers talking most about over the years is our brotherhood. It is an honor to make a Brotherhood Assistance donation to families of troopers killed in the line of duty and to financially assist injured troopers or those facing other hardships. Please browse our website to see the other programs with which we are involved.

As you explore our website, you will be able to find information about becoming a member, as well as information about donating to AAST and the AAST Scholarship Foundation. To keep membership dues affordable, we rely on the generosity of the public to help us provide an array of valuable services for our members. On our site, you will also learn more about AAST and our commitment to serving America's state troopers.

We are privileged to have you join us in this effort.

With regards,

Keith Barbier
