Pennsylvania Trooper is killed in off-duty crash

Trooper Kenton E. Iwaniec

Trooper Kenton E. Iwaniec, 24, of the Pennsylvania State Police, where he served for just three months, died March 28, 2008, as a result of a vehicle crash. Trooper Iwaniec was driving home after a late shift when a vehicle crossed the center line, sideswiped a truck, and then hit Iwaniec's Hyundai Elantra head-on.

A native of Westmoreland County, Iwaniec enlisted with the state police in June after his graduation from St. Vincent College in Latrobe. His first law-enforcement posting was with Troop J at the Avondale barracks.

Trooper Iwaniec is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Debra Iwaniec of Cook, sisters Sashonna Zacour, Acacia Houck and Ashley Iwaniec, and his fiancee, Julie Kromer of Greensburg.

Please join the members of the American Association of State Troopers in keeping the family of Trooper Iwaniec in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
