Scholarships aplenty for AAST members' children

AAST member Jayo, center, has two children who have received AAST scholarships, Talen, left, and Tanna.
AAST member Joey Jayo, center, has two children
who have received AAST scholarships, Talen, left, and Tanna.

AAST received the following note recently from three-time AAST scholarship recipient Talen Jayo, son of Thomas “Joey” Jayo of the Oregon State Police. Talen had to maintain a minimum 3.5 grade point average (4.0 scale) to receive the second scholarship, and a 3.8 GPA to receive the third scholarship. He is one of the few AAST scholarship recipients to achieve such a prestigious feat. Joey’s daughter, Tanna, received her first AAST scholarship this school year. Congratulations to all AAST scholarship recipients.

I would like to personally thank AAST for their continued financial support, as well as their unwavering interest in my future education. With their financial contribution, AAST has provided me with a sense of assurance and has allowed me to pursue my post high school education as my first and only priority. Through this, I have been able to maintain a high standing in the collegiate community academically, and have instilled sound principles to advance myself in today’s competitive job market. Presently, I am pursuing a major in rangeland ecology and management, with two completed minors in crop and soil science and animal science. While my future is still open to me, I would like to once again thank AAST for making my education financially feasible.

Sincerely,
Talen Jayo
