Trooper helps celebrate Year of Noncommissioned Officer
Tpr. Eli Valenzuela of the Nebraska State Patrol was among 75 Nebraska Army National Guard sergeants on hand for the signing of a proclamation declaring 2009 as the “Year of the Army Noncommissioned Officer.”
Nebraska governor Dave Heineman signed the proclamation at the Nebraska state Capitol on March 11 during a ceremony which served as the official kick-off of the Nebraska Army National Guard’s recognition of NCOs and their support of the guard’s local, state, and national commitments. The observance is part of a year-long recognition led by the U.S. Army. Valenzuela, a 25-year veteran of the NSP, is assigned to the agency’s Executive Protection Division. He has served as a member of the Nebraska Army National Guard, 67th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade since 1979. As the brigade’s command sergeant major, Valenzuela has been on active duty in both Bosnia and Iraq and is preparing for another overseas deployment in 2010. |
