New York State Police & DiSilva/Webster Trucking Corporation Raise Funds for the Family of New York Trooper John GorkeAAST is so proud of our newest Associate member, Brian J. Libby, of Tillson, New York (pictured in the above photo, far left), for spearheading a fundraising raffle for the family of New York State Police Trooper John Gorke. Trooper Gorke was killed on July 3, 2009, when a car struck the bicycle he was riding in an off-duty status. Gorke was about three months shy of obtaining 20 years of service with the New York State Police. Based on current retirement laws in New York State, since he did not reach 20 years of service, his widow is not eligible to receive his pension. In addition, two of Trooper Gorke's three sons have disabilities which will require higher levels of care and will also increase the financial burden for the Gorke family. A 42 inch Sanyo flat screen television and two Disalva Trucking jackets, all donated by DiSilva/Webster Trucking Corporation, were raffled off. With assistance from the New York State Police, a total of $4,500 was raised for Trooper Gorke’s family during the event. The men and women of the American Association of State Troopers are proud to have Brian Libby as one of our newest members, and are thankful to him for his hard work in organizing and managing this successful fundraiser for Trooper Gorke’s family. Shown in the photo above are, L to R, Brian Libby, Ms. Joanne Stabile - Safety Manager - Webster Trucking, Master Sergeant Thomas Ferritto, Troop T-New York State Police, Gary Andrews, Regional Manager, DiSilva/Webster Trucking Corp., Major Robert C Meyers, Commander, Troop T, New York State Police, and William Behrens, Director, Operations New York State Thruway Authority.
