Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Paul Richey died in the line of duty on Wednesday, January 13, 2010. Trooper Richey was shot and killed when he and another trooper responded to a domestic disturbance call in Cranberry Township, Venango County. He was fatally shot as he got out of his cruiser. The suspect fled the scene.

Trooper Richey had served with the Pennsylvania State Police for 16 years and was assigned to the patrol unit at the state police Troop E station in Franklin, Venango County. He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
