Southeastern Law Enforcement Shootout at Kinderlou ForestThe American Association of State Troopers Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce an exciting fundraising golf tournament, the Southeastern Law Enforcement Shootout at Kinderlou Forest, which will be held at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Georgia, on Monday, October 25, 2010, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The tournament will be a 4-person scramble format and will be open to active and retired law enforcement officers, and friends of law enforcement. Kinderlou Forest Golf Club, designed by renowned PGA Tour professional Davis Love III, is the site of the South Georgia Classic, an annual Nationwide Tour event. We are offering participants the opportunity to arrive in Valdosta on Sunday, October 24th, and play a practice round at Kinderlou Forest at a significantly reduced "AAST" rate of $45.00. Also, a "Dutch treat" reception for golfers and their spouses will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday night at the host hotel for the tournament, the Clarion Inn and Conference Center, located at the intersection of Interstate 75 and State Road 84 (at the 16 mile marker of I-75). The Clarion Inn and Conference Center has a sports bar and a nice restaurant and is located about 4 miles from Kinderlou Forest. Call the hotel directly at 229-242-1212, and make your reservations early to get the "AAST" rate of $62.00. Golfers who bring their wives will be interested to know that Valdosta’s famous outlet shopping malls are also located close to the hotel. The 4-person team entry fee for the tournament is only $300.00 and includes golf, cart fee, lunch, and a special "goodie" bag for participants. There will also be a raffle after the tournament for nice gifts, and special prizes for longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin. Golfers who do not have a 4-person team will be paired with other similar participants. Individual entries are $75.00. Please click here for a tournament entry form that can be downloaded and completed. Make sure that you enter the tournament early, as space will be limited, and entries are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for those who may not be able to play, but still want to support the AAST Scholarship Foundation. Click here for a sponsor form that can also be downloaded and completed. The American Association of State Troopers (AAST), founded in 1989, is a national, non-profit organization composed of active and retired state troopers and state police officers. The Association is fraternal in nature and is not a labor union or collective bargaining unit. AAST is the only national association organized exclusively for individual troopers. Currently, there are approximately 6,192 AAST members in 49 states. The mission of AAST is to improve the lives of state troopers across the country by providing important benefits and services, facilitating the exchange of professional and technical information, and expanding opportunities for camaraderie for troopers beyond their own state lines. Since 1990, over $1.9 million in academic scholarships have been awarded to children of AAST members through the AAST Scholarship Foundation, a 501(c)3 charitable organization. Providing educational scholarships for our members’ children is one of the most important purposes of AAST. Last September, we awarded $114,000 in college scholarships to our members’ children for the 2009/10 school year. We are now in the process of accepting applications for scholarships for the 2010/11 school year, so we need your help and support to insure all applications are fully funded by the Scholarship Foundation! Questions regarding the tournament or sponsorship opportunities can be directed to Ken Howes, Executive Director, AAST, at 800-765-5456, #202, or via e-mail at ken@statetroopers.org. We look forward to seeing you at Kinderlou Forest! |
