Truckers and Troopers Unite for Safety

The Truckers and Troopers Unite for Safety campaign was launched in August 2010 as a traffic safety education/fundraising program targeting trucking companies that support traffic safety, especially the use of safety belts. The purpose of the campaign is for trucking companies to 1) visibly demonstrate their support for the American Association of State Troopers and the AAST Scholarship Foundation, and 2) to help reduce traffic fatalities by encouraging the motoring public to utilize their safety belts.

The AAST Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors believes that “truckers and troopers” are a natural combination to effectively encourage the general public to utilize safety belts on our nation’s highways. Trooper members of the American Association of State Troopers, Inc., look forward to additional trucking companies throughout the United States supporting the AAST Scholarship Foundation by participating in the Truckers and Troopers Unite for Safety program, and helping spread the word about safety belt use throughout the country.

The AAST Scholarship Foundation, designated a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, was established by the Board of Directors of the American Association of State Troopers, Inc., and incorporated in August 1990. The AAST Scholarship Foundation raises funds to provide educational scholarships for the dependents of AAST trooper members. Since it was established, the AAST Scholarship Foundation has awarded over $1.9 million to 2,622 students to support their educational endeavors.

Interested individuals should contact AAST Executive Director Ken Howes with questions or for additional information regarding the Truckers and Troopers Unite for Safety program. Ken can be reached at (800) 765-5456, #202, or via e-mail at ken@statetroopers.org.
