A Michigan State Police trooper is being credited with saving a toddler who was drowning.

Trooper Tanner Harrison from the West Branch post responded on Monday just before 5 p.m. to a backyard koi pond in Rose City for a two-year-old drowning victim.

When Harrison arrived, he found the child unresponsive and a family member performing CPR. He then took over, providing chest compressions, back blows and rescue breathing until the child got a pulse back and began breathing on its own.

EMS arrived and took the child to a local hospital for further treatment. Police say the child is expected to make a full recovery.Line
