NY state troopers Rescue 80-year-old from Buring Home

A New York State Police trooper rushed into a burning home in St. Lawrence County Thursday and pulled an 80-year-old man to safety.
Trooper James P. Bertram, assigned to the Troop B Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, was working in the area when he heard a fire call at approximately 11:04 a.m. reporting a structure fire with an individual trapped inside a residence on Haggert Road in in Oswegatchie.
When Bertram arrived at the scene, he observed heavy fire and smoke coming from the residence. After learning that someone was still inside, he entered the home, located the individual and assisted him out.
Trooper Craig Thornhill, a K-9 trooper assigned to SP Ogdensburg, responded to the scene and assisted Bertram and the resident after they exited the residence.
The 80-year-old male resident of Ogdensburg was transported to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center and later transferred to Upstate University Hospital for further treatment. His injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening.
